In•gre•di•ent is a healthy alternative to the daily food choices. We work closely with local farmers to bring you the freshest ingredients available. Our name, in•gre•di•ent (noun)- comes from the Latin word ingredientem, meaning that which enters into. An element or component of something. When looking at names for our restaurant we went back and forth for several weeks trying to decide what we were going to call the restaurant. We knew what our concept was, we knew we wanted to enter into a small town that supported its local businesses. Our main purpose was to give back, not be greedy, support and help grow the town we love. With all that in mind, we started looking and names, words, dictionaries, anything that we could use as a resource to help us develop a name. I (Chef Jason) kept bring up the word ingredient, as in we will source ingredients from local farms, partner with local businesses to highlight what they are doing and help support in any way we can, to grow and use these local businesses in our concept. This whole time we were using the word that best described us as a restaurant, in•gre•di•enet. That's who were are, an element or component of something else. It's perfect, we incorporate local products in our food and atmosphere so why not be in•gre•di•ent? It took a while to let it sink in and the more and more we said it, the better and better is sounded. Well, done, we liked it, and went with it. Now, here we are almost a year later and have made very clear choices and stayed true to our vision. We knew we wanted Downtown Clayton, healthier farm fresh food, cleaner eating options, but it seemed every time we would get close to choosing a location something would happen or it wasn't in our best interest. Every time a door closed a better option presented itself, we did not settle and we are very grateful we didn't. We are so excited about being part of this not so small town, and raising our children here, that we are forever grateful for everyone who has supported us, encouraged us, told us to not give up, shared their stories, their frustrations, and we want each and everyone one of you to know that this is your restaurant. You are our Friends, and even though we haven't met you, you are part of our Family. We look forward to serving you and bringing you a new style of dining very soon. P.S. My 5-year-old daughter just asked, if all the kids could be her friend and play with her. She wants to give everyone cookies and soda. Thank you, Chef Jason
