The Lady Who Started It All. Delia Martin is the lady responsible for our big success. She's been delighting us with authentic Mexican cuisine and her family's original Puffy Taco for decades. Our menu is derived from original recipes from Delia's parents, Rosalio and Consuelo Rendon. The dream of a storefront became a reality with help from Delia's husband George and his parents, George Sr. and Lila Martin. The Martins provided the financial backing to open the original Fraser, Michigan location in 1971. Demand for the Puffy Taco forced us to relocate from that tiny store in a strip mall, to 14 Mile Road where we doubled in size. Three more locations have since followed in St. Clair Shores, Macomb and Troy. Now, here we are – four restaurants and millions of Puffy Tacos later! El Charro continues to be a family endeavor with children Jeff and Lynn now running the business. Sons, Mark and Ed, were also involved in the business for many years but recently left to pursue other interests. With the passing of George in 2005, the Martin family continues to follow his high moral standards by proudly supporting the hard working El Charro families and surrounding local communities.
